Classes & Events

All classes are tentative – and may be cancelled. Registered students may request a refund or wait for classes to be rescheduled.

Sharing Wheels offers bike classes open to the public. The goal is to give people the skills to work on their own bikes – as well as to train future volunteers who can help in the shop.

All classes are at the shop, 2531 Broadway Ave., Everett, WA 98201. Entrance is in back of building.

Basic Bike Maintenance

One-Night Class

6 – 9 p.m. Wednesday May 13; June 10; July 8

Learn the basics every  bike owner should know. This class includes: how to fix a flat, chain care, adjusting gears and brakes, and identifying when to take your bike into a bike shop. This class will keep your bike rolling, making your riding more enjoyable.  Bring your bike or practice on one of ours in this hands-on class.

Cost: $35. Must register and pay by the Saturday before the class.

Class Size: Minimum 4, max 6 students

Bike Buying Tips: Fit, Style, Price

ONE-NIGHT CLASS

7-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 29

Thinking of buying a bike this spring? Whether you shop at Sharing Wheels, Craigslist or the local bike shop, there are a lot of choices out there! A bike you will love to ride fits not just your height, but also your style and planned use. Do you want to bike to the grocery store, stick to the Centennial Trail or bomb down a mountain trail ? Learn about the types of bikes and gear available and how to pick a bike that fits you – your size, style, and riding preferences. We’ll also cover how to assess a new or used bike for value and price. Bring your current bike for a free safety check, if you’d like.

Suggested Donation: $10 night of class.

Advanced Bike Mechanics

Four-Session Class

6-9 P.M Wednesdays April 8, 15, 22, 29

6-9 p.m. Thursdays July 9, 16, 23, 30

This class is for those who want to get into the heart and soul of their bike. Learn the terms for parts of the bike and how to evaluate their condition. Learn about the bearing systems and how to overhaul them. Demystify the cable systems and get your machine running smoothly. Over the course of the class you will complete a full overhaul and tune on your bicycle. Bring your own bike or use one of ours.

Cost: $120 (plus parts if needed). Must register and pay by Saturday before class. No refunds if participant cancels less than 7 days prior to  first class. Ask about our volunteer discount.

Class Size: Limited to 6 students

Registering for Classes

Your place is not guaranteed until we receive payment. Pay online via credit card or PayPal (write “class” in the “special instructions” section), or come by the shop during open hours with cash, credit or check.

Classes that do not have the minimum number of participants may be cancelled. Your payment can be applied to the next class, or refunded. Sign up in advance to make sure the class happens.
