Community Bike Program

Bikes are a great form of transportation to work, transit, school and services. Keeping people and bikes moving is our mission!

Our Community Bike Program is for low income teens and adults referred to us by other agencies or shop staff. Participants must apply and complete a series of steps, including a few hours of volunteering in the shop, to earn a refurbished bike for use as personal transportation (and fun, too).

  1. Bike Request: Participant or service agency complete a request form for the size and type of bike needed. Apply below.
  2. Attend Bike Class: Participants must attend a 1-hour Fix-A-Flat course (offered 2x/month on Sundays) in our shop that covers fixing flats and maintaining the chain.
  3. Volunteer: Participant must spend a minimum of 3 hours volunteering in the shop. Participants can choose from a list of bike/shop-related tasks that best suits their abilities.

Funding for this program is provided by people who donate to Sharing Wheels. and supporting organizations.
