For decades, Sharing Wheels has been breaking down barriers to essential transportation, health, recreation, and economic mobility. As we gear up for our 25th anniversary in 2027 and look at growing into a new facility, we are expanding our leadership team.
We are seeking mission-driven leaders, problem-solvers, and community advocates to serve on our Board of Directors. If you want to be an active agent of change in local community work, this is your opportunity.
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need to own a bicycle or ride one to make an impact at Sharing Wheels. We are looking for go-getters who follow through on commitments and care deeply about:
- Equitable Mobility & Health: Ensuring everyone—regardless of income—has access to reliable transportation, physical health, and outdoor recreation.
- Supporting Low-Income Families & Unhoused Neighbors: Utilizing education, programs, and resource redistribution to empower vulnerable community members.
- Sustainable Transportation: Helping people transition to environmentally friendly ways of moving and reducing the cycle of waste.
- Local Leadership: Taking an active, hands-on role in shaping city-wide community programs and organizational policy.
What to Expect
- Time Investment: ~8 hours per month total.
- Monthly Board Governance: Attend 1 monthly board meeting to review strategy, finances, and operations.
- Active Committee Participation: Serve on 1 committee aligned with your skills and passions including Finance, Fundraising, Facilities, Community, Programs, or Special Projects (such as the Bike Love Film Event).
- Ambassadorship: Serve as a passionate advocate for our mission within your personal and professional networks.
- Term of Office: We ask our leaders to commit to a 2-year term.
The Selection Process
- Application: Complete our board application.
- Board Meeting Visit: Attend an upcoming board meeting to see our culture and governance in action.
- Leadership Interview: Sit down for a candidate interview with our Board Vice President and/or Executive Director.
