It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that longtime volunteer and community staple Ron W. passed away in January at the age of 77. Ron is survived by his widow, Edith, and a large, loving family of children and grandchildren.
For years, Ron has been a fixture at Sharing Wheels, at first fixing bike in the shop and then exclusively manning a pop-up tent at our Mobile Bike Repair and Repair Cafe. He possessed that special combination of mechanical skill and patient mentorship, helping hundreds of riders get back on their bikes and stay mobile.

Ron’s presence at Sharing Wheels provided a sense of camaraderie and warmth that will be deeply missed by staff and fellow volunteers alike. Ron didn’t just fix bikes; he believed in what those bikes represented for our neighbors and he was vocal about the vital role the shop plays, recently noting:
“Sharing Wheels has done so much for my community in giving the gift of transportation. Many people rely on them for affordable repairs, parts and good advice. Keep on biking!”
