Springing Forward

Spring has sprung, with birds chirping and bulbs blooming! As nature awakens, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the past year and plan for the one ahead.

In program news, our first Youth Bike Club cohort is progressing well, now over halfway through the class. The participants are learning a great deal about maintenance and safe riding, thanks to the dedicated instruction of Kristen, K2, Eric, and Andrew.

Regarding some of our other programs, we have already acquired nearly forty of the fifty bikes needed for our summer Kids Bike Giveaway. Our repair parties will be starting up May 6th but you can RSVP now.

This year, we are piloting a few new Mobile Bike Repair locations in partnership with the Everett Parks Department. We hope to better reach folks in need by providing services closer to their homes and recreation areas. You can sign up to help out here.

In the shop, activity is increasing with the longer, brighter days. Our spring sale is this week, and Ed and marketeer Henry have been actively marketing and distributing flyers throughout Everett to promote the event. This year, we are extending the sale to a full week to provide more individuals with the opportunity to purchase a bike, regardless of their work schedule. Additionally, we have welcomed Reese for a twelve-week internship. Reese is enthusiastic about working in the shop and looks to be a valuable addition to the team as we enter the busy season.

Finally, the Sharing Wheels board of directors released our 2024 Annual Report this month. It is wonderful to see the great work this community has done over the last year. All in all, it is a very exciting time at Sharing Wheels and I can’t wait to see how our work pays off in the sunny months ahead.

Thanks for your time,

-Andy
