Preparing Everett students to be safe, confident riders
Youth Bike Club is a free after-school youth development and bike safety program for students at North Middle and Everett High schools.
The state-funded program is hosted at Sharing Wheels Community Bike Shop. Sharing Wheels is a local nonprofit located right across the parking lot from North Middle School on Broadway Ave – 1/2 mile from Everett High.
The fall session starts the week of Sept. 21 and meets once a week through mid-November. Middle school club meets Tuesdays. High schoolers meet Wednesdays.
Girls are encouraged to participate.
What is Youth Bike Club?
Youth Bike Club at Sharing Wheels prepares youth to be safe and self-sufficient bike riders. Each club session is a group of 6 to 8 students that meets once a week for 8 weeks after school.
Middle School Youth Bike Club generally meets 3 to 4:55 pm on Tuesday afternoons during the school year.
High School Youth Bike Club meets for two hours on Wednesdays after school.
During each session youth:
- Learn bike maintenance and repair skills – hands-on with brand new bicycles (and some old ones, too).
- Practice safe route planning and city riding with the group.
- Make friends and be part of a community bike shop and the broader community of Everett.
We combine an established curriculum with experienced staff and volunteers to meet students where they are – at any experience level.
Students who complete the program will be eligible to take home the new bike they’ve helped build and practice on, along with lights, helmet and a lock.
Check out The Snohomish County Tribune’s coverage of the program (May 2025).
Participant Requirements
Participants must be students at North Middle School or Everett High School in Everett, WA and may participate and complete Youth Bike Club once during their middle school or high school years (grades 6-12).
We also ask that you:
- Attend all Youth Bike Club sessions. Absences must be communicated in advance to the program leader. See Schedule.
- Commit to learning and growing as a safe cyclist and team member.

- No bike repair experience required - we'll learn together.

For interested students in the Everett area who are not enrolled at North Middle or Everett High School, let us know here if you'd be interested in joining Youth Bike Club in the future.

Program Highlights

Youth will practice riding and repairs on NEW urban bikes. Great for city riding with quality brakes, shifters and multiple speeds.

At least two adults will lead each session. Every coaching adult must pass a background check before being involved in Youth Bike Club.

Our first few rides will practice bike skills in off-street areas near Sharing Wheels.

In the final weeks of the program, we'll bike to nearby destinations, and even practice loading bikes on a city bus!
