Our Programs

Community Bikes

Our Community Bike Program is for low income teens and adults referred to us by other agencies or shop staff. Participants receive a voucher or apply and complete volunteer service to earn a refurbished bike for use as personal transportation (and fun, too).

DIY Repair Area

Anyone can use our tools and space to repair your own bike anytime during regular shop hours. We are happy to help with advice and even hands-on assistance with minor repairs.

Most people who use this service are low or no-income, though others bring in their ambitious bike-building projects to benefit from our special tools and advice. Donations are welcome but not required.

Kids Bikes

Over the past 20 years, the Sharing Wheels has given thousands of bikes to low income families through our holiday and spring bike programs. Community donations of gently-used bikes and volunteer time make this work possible. Help put a smile on a kid’s face.

Mobile Bike Repair

It can be hard to get a broken bike to the shop. We began our mobile bike repair program in 2021 to bring repairs to people where they live, work or congregate. Our 2022 outreach is funded by a generous grant from the Larson Family Foundation.

If you are a nonprofit partner who’d like to schedule a bike repair clinic at your site, please contact us.

Youth Bike Club

Youth Bike Club at Sharing Wheels prepares youth to be safe and self-sufficient bike riders. We call it “active transportation,” but students call it “fun” and “freedom.”

We combine an established curriculum and the experience of expert staff and volunteers to meet students where they are – at any experience level. Students who complete the program will be eligible to take home the new bike they’ve helped build and practice on, along with lights, helmet and a lock.

Work for Wheels

Our work-trade program “Work for Wheels” allows people to volunteer time at the shop in exchange for credit towards labor on bike repairs, used parts or accessories. Program is intended for individuals who cannot otherwise afford to purchase repairs, parts, or a bicycle.
